The accused told the police that after escaping from prison, he kept on changing his place, but was detained while stealing a bicycle. The Ludhiana Central Jail inmate who’d managed to escape through a clash that occurred in June was captured red-handed when stealing a bike in Mandi Ahmadgarh.
The authorities said Amandeep had shifted his get-up to that of a Sikh person to evade arrest.
The Ludhiana police have attracted the accused on a production warrant.
According to the authorities, Amandeep had grown his beard and began linking turban to keep off the police’s radar.
The accused told the police that after escaping from prison, he kept on changing his place, but was detained while stealing a bicycle.
The ASI added that after the jailbreak, the authorities had conducted multiple raids in Mandi Gobindgarh and informed their counterparts regarding the same.
“However, Amandeep triumphed in outsmarting the police for so long,” the ASI stated.
An inmate had died and 10 others were injured in the central jail in a clash that broke between authorities and prisoners.
The inmates were protesting against the passing of a fellow prisoner, Sunny Sood, in Patiala’s Rajindra Hospital on June 27.
Five inmates had fled from the prison taking advantage of this circumstance. Four of these were nabbed by the police promptly, but Amandeep was able to elude detection.
